  1. I still remember an amazing story that you wrote in Mrs. D’marco’s class in second grade!! Shiana and I were SO impressed by it!
Have you sent out your manuscript yet? I have a couple of children’s books manuscripts, but haven’t sent them out…the task seems huge to me.

    1. Mrs. D’marco!!! I adored her and her blue eye shadow and funky earrings. She was the best. Yes, I’ve been sending out my manuscript. It is pretty daunting and the odds aren’t all that great. I try not to think about that part. I started by reading comparable books and then researched the agents for those authors. (Sometimes they even thanked them in the acknowledgments section.) Twitter is also a good tool. A lot of agents offer general tips or broadcast what they’re looking for. Happy to share any info I can – we are all in this together!

      1. Haha! I will never forget the eye shadow and earrings. Wow, good for you for being so brave. I will have to check out twitter. So far I’ve decided to start by trying to get some poetry published in children’s magazines. I thought that might be a foot in the door and it seems a little less daunting than trying to get a whole book published. Do you work on your own or do you have a writer’s group? Best of luck to you! I hope I’ll get to read your book some day!

      2. I really like the idea of a writer’s group, but I don’t have one. I mostly rely on friends to read my drafts. Luckily they are smart, patient and generous with their time 🙂
